UNIT 3.3 AT THE RESTAURANT




OBJECTIVES

SHORT READING ABOUT THE TOPIC.


  
(Daniel calls Marisol on the phone) 
DANIEL: Hi Marisol! Guess what? I got the job in landscaping. 
MARISOL: Great! Congratulations! 
DANIEL: Lets go out to eat and celebrate! Im inviting. 
MARISOL: McDougals again? 
DANIEL: No, lets go somewhere fancy. Theres a new Venezuelan restaurant on Main. Los Primos, I think they call it. 
MARISOL: Oh yes. They say its really good. Whats Venezuelan food like? 
DANIEL: Pretty good. But Im no expert on it. See you about 7:30 then? 
MARISOL: Yes, OK. Thank you for the invitation. 
(Later in Los Primos restaurant) 
MARISOL: The dcor here is the nicest Ive seen in a long time. It looks expensive, though. 
DANIEL: Dont worry. I told you Im buying. 
WAITER: Good evening! (He hands them a menu) Would you like water? 
BOTH :. Yes, please. 
WAITER: Ill be right with you. (he leaves)(they look at the menu) 
DANIEL: Hmm! The prices here are very reasonable. I hope the food is as good as the dcor. What are you having, Marisol? 
MARISOL: Well, I dont know. The menu is in Spanish and English but.. 
DANIEL: Well, Im having Asado Negro. Thats a delicious kind of Roast Beef, but the sauce is sweet and very, very dark. 
MARISOL: That sounds good, Ill have the same. Waiter! 
WAITER: (comes to their table)Are you ready to order? 
DANIEL: Yes, well have Asados. 
WAITER: Would you like an appetizer to begin with? 
DANIEL: No, thanks. 
WAITER: So thats two Asados What would you like to drink? 
MARISOL: A glass of a Chateaubriand de Pouille Fuisse, please. 
DANIEL: ?????? Sounds good. Ill have the same . 
WAITER: Thank you. (he leaves) 
MARISOL: Well, tell me about the landscaping job.



In this unit we found a conversation with DANIEL, who got a new job and decided to invite Marisol to the Venezuelan restaurant called "LOS PRIMOS".

SUPERLATIVES

It is used to describe an object that is superior or inferior (Quality) that is:
ü  alto -> the highest
ü  small -> the smallest
ü  rapido -> the fastest

It is used when we compare a subject with a group of objects:

Name (subject) + Verb + the + Adjective in superlative degree + name (object)

ü  Negrisimo
ü  Very wise
ü  Tiernisimo

Now in the activity they give us the example of comparing the restaurant "LOS PRIMOS" with two more restaurants

·         Prices are the least expensive
·         Your food is the most delicious
·         Has the best service

These comparative adjectives are called superlative adjectives.
